One of the Most Timeless Iconic Photos: First Breaths
July 15, 2015
No other image is as classic and timeless than that of your very first photo. So often we see this image of baby in the traditional pink and blue cap, laying in the hospital bassinet. Today, with birth photography on the rise, the first photo of baby is becoming one of baby’s first breath, first cry, and also one other element unsurpassed by any other: the first look of those welcoming baby into the world. This moment gives me chills as I remember what that moment felt like with both of my two children: one right after my daughter was born and one when I met my son at 10 hours after he was born. Being the creator of an image so powerful that only a parent can understand is a gift and the exact reason I chose to add Gina Holt’s image for our Iconic Photos blog series. What Gina Holt has to say about her iconic photo:
“This image was taken literally seconds after baby Hope was born. Mother gave birth completely natural with no medication. The Dr. had just delivered her and raised her to place her on her mother’s chest. Such a beautiful moment.”
