It’s easy to be consumed by all the noise of life—let alone COVID-19 impacting us all. It’s easy to react hastily in the uncertainty of… EVERYTHING. I’ve ordered the groceries and am glued to the news right along with you.
ONE THING I KNOW FOR SURE:
Our lives are still moving. Our unique, tiny stories are still happening.
As Brene Brown says, “Time is an unrenewable resource.”
It’s one thing to be informed. It’s another to be consumed.
The choice is yours.
(I’m telling this to myself just as much as I’m gently reminding you)
Note: I highly suggest doing these things as a family 🙂 Bonus: they can DOUBLE as content for your business if you’re a personal brand!
💫 Do my Notice Your People exercise (see it here) as a family. This exercise is cathartic (!!!) and I guarantee will energize you with some ideas you can do at home right now.
💫 Play “The Notice Game.” If you’re in for the long-haul of social-distancing… or not, list 5 wonderful things you want to notice during this wild time. It feels like a mega win when you spot ‘em! Bonus: DOCUMENT these things you notice, because you’ll train your brain to see more of ‘em (which seems so needed right now!)
💫 Frozen 2 binge on Disney+? I say, binge watch your family videos together or look through all your photos. You can numb out to movies or tv (no judgement!) or you can look back at your stories and feel fulfilled.
💫 Make a Summer Bucket List (or whatever season is after this one for you). When I lived in Michigan, I did this with the kids because I loathed the winters. It gave us something to look forward to, sparked conversation, and drowned out the noise as we drew pictures to represent the items on our list.
💫 Write out the timeline of your life. Share it with your family. Fill in the blanks. What stories pop up? Write about it. Write about how it changed you. If you’re in business, what stories could you share with your audience?
💫 Pick up the camera or start journaling. This is such a unique time for us all… record it. One day, you’ll be telling future generations about it.
💫 Go through old and recent stories… what haven’t you recorded and would like to? COVID-19 aside, what do you want to remember about this season in your life? Make a “To-Remember” list.
💫 Use a tool, like Zoom, and spark up family interviews. Record family stories. Learn something new about your loved ones.
💫 Or pick up your phone and record an interview of your kids about their lives right now.
💫 Make thank you cards for the people you love. Tell them one, specific thing about them that impacted your life. WHY do you love them? This is the stuff we put off until “later.” Now seems like a good time.
💫 Likewise, how can you cheer on and support those on the frontlines of this (and also, respond on this one, because I’d love ideas!)?
Sending so much love and well wishes your way today + always.
What do you to reduce the noise + enjoy time with your family while working on your business?
