About a year ago there, was an art walk organised on Kauai. I accidentally saw the information about the art walk on Facebook, quickly packed my son’s lunch and we were off to the art adventure.
It was a great opportunity to be welcomed in artists’ studios and galleries, and get to know them personally. While seeing these talented people bringing their art into the world, one bold idea sparkled in my mind.
I craved to grab my camera and document these passionate people being artists: fully engaged in their work, giving all their soul and body for the sake of art. Colors, textures, all the unique stores – everything I saw was so different from what I used to photograph before (meaning everyday beauty of chaotic life with my toddler).

The journey began exactly a year later in April 2016, when I decided to make a photo project, Heartmade. Kauai. I can’t even imagine how many wonderful artists I’ll meet on this path and how open-hearted they will be.
Very gifted potter, Courtney Puig, was the first person who kindly agreed to open the door to her studio, so we can witness the marvelous process of creating and coloring mugs and pots, and become her accomplice in this pure magic!
